Product Application: Using image guidance, the ablation antenna is inserted into the tumor tissue. Microwaves are transmitted through the ablation antenna into the tumor tissue, causing dipolar molecules and polar side chains of proteins in the local tissue surrounding the antenna’s radiation tip to oscillate at extremely high frequencies. This generates intense localized heat, which leads to nuclear and chromatin coagulation, protein denaturation, and chromosomal abnormalities, ultimately inducing cell death.
